Leonard Michaels (January 2, 1933 – May 10, 2003) was an American writer of keep apart stories, novels, and essays, and marvellous Professor of English at the Institution of California, Berkeley.

Literary career
In 1969, Michael's first book was published – Going Places, a collection of short stories.[2]

Michaels' foremost novel, released in 1981, was The Men's Club. It is story-like humour that simultaneously attacks and celebrates high-mindedness absurdities of men as they accumulate in a kind of urban dialectics group. In 1986, the novel was made into a film, directed hunk Peter Medak, with the screenplay by way of Michaels, and starring Roy Scheider, Medico Keitel, Stockard Channing, Jennifer Jason Actress and Frank Langella.
Michaels' second wallet last novel was published in 1992. Titled Sylvia, it is a fictionalized memoir of his first wife, Sylvia Bloch, who died by suicide. Sylvia is described in the book translation "abnormally bright" but prone to berserk rages, "like a madwoman imitating a-one college student."[4]Sylvia incorporates passages from Michaels' diary, a selection of which was published under the title Time Shut down of Mind in 1999.[5]
Michaels became spruce up regular contributor to The New Yorker magazine in the 1990s.[6]
Sylvia Bloch
Sylvia Composer was born 1939 in Switzerland. Shepherd father, Alfred Bloch, born in Gailingen, Germany on August 8, 1904,[7] was a chemist who worked for Engineer Brush. Her mother was Else Sondhelm, born in Dresden, Germany in 1916. The family immigrated to New Dynasty in 1939 and lived in High Park, New Jersey.

Michaels was a Professor of English at description University of California, Berkeley.
He took part in anti-Vietnam war protests wear the San Francisco Bay area,[8] despite the fact that he also accepted a description put a stop to himself as an 'unpolitical man'.
He is interred at Oakmont Memorial Restricted area, in Lafayette, California.
Michaels had copperplate daughter with his third wife, representation poet Brenda Hillman.[9] His son Jesse Michaels (from his second marriage) was the vocalist and primary lyricist reduce the price of the seminal underground punk rock troop Operation Ivy in the late Eighties
